FREE PANCAKES!!!

Every week I bring you examples of social media campaigns that I come across on Facebook or Twitter. Today I found National Pancake Day by IHOP.

Courtesy of your neighborhood IHOP, you can get your own FREE short stack on National Pancake Day. National Pancake Day is February 23rd and you can get your free pancakes 7AM to 10PM.

This isn't a new promo for IHOP but it is new to Facebook. The campaign IHOP is running through Facebook is another channel to spread their message. In all, IHOP does a good job of utilizing Facebook to get the word out, but they also fall short in leveraging their events for gaining new fans to their Facebook Fan Page.

There are applications that require Facebook users to become fans of a fan page in order to receive a discount/coupon/special offer.

Either way, IHOP is doing a good job of utilizing social media to promote their popular National Pancake Day short stack give-away. For ideas in creating a Social Media campaign for your events/business/company, contact Coffin Media Works!

Mafia Wars

The last video parody Coffin Media Works brought to you was Farmville via Tobuscus (some guy who creates these funny videos).

AGAIN, stand aside fun and excitement! If you like Grand Theft Auto, you will (not) be blown away by Mafia Wars. Either way, let this funny parody take your mind off things for a few minutes!

Social Media to Promote Your Biz

Another major corporation is getting in on the social media wagon! Dunkin' Donuts is running two side by side campaigns on Facebook and Twitter. The Facebook campaign asks Fan Page members to post pictures of themselves drinking ICED COFFEE. The irony, it's winter! The weekly winner gets to be featured in the profile picture for DD. www.facebook.com/DunkinDonuts

The second campaign is on Twitter. Here the Twitter followers are asked to take part in the Twinter Games. Followers use specific hashtags to participate. The winner receives $50 gift card!

Once again, this is a major company that is leveraging contests to engage their customers and gain fans and followers! If you need help running Facebook/Twitter contests, contact Coffin Media Works.

Farmville

Stand aside fun and excitement! This video is funny! I can't believe it is sooo popular. It must be addictive. It has 74 million active users a month. Social media makes the boring and mundane, fun and exciting.

Facebook has its own Re-Tweet

Just this past weekend, Facebook introduced its own version of the Re-Tweet made popular by Twitter. Re-Tweeting is best described as taking a twitter message someone else has posted, and rebroadcasting that same message to your twitter followers.

What this means in the Facebook world... When you have a friend in your network who posts a link, picture or video, you now have the option to "Share" the link that your friend posted. The important part here is Facebook gives credit to the person who originally posted it, just like a Re-Tweet.

You Want More Facebook Fans?

There are many ways to get new Facebook Fans for your Fan Page. First lets take a look into why you want Facebook fans in the first place. It is important to stay connected with your customers more than ever before. Your fans are talking about your brand whether the conversation is good, bad or indifferent, you need to be a part of this conversation. The more you interact with your customers, the more connection and loyalty they will feel towards your brand.

But the big question here is, WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF FANS ON MY FAN PAGE?

A Targeted Ad Campaign is a great place to start. Just about every business has people they can target using a Facebook targeted ad campaign. Coffin Media Works designs targeted Facebook advertising campaigns for business that will reach only your desired audience. This ensures that your ads will be presented to people who will potentially become Fans of your Facebook Fan Page.

But just putting your ad in front people who are interested doesn't mean they will automatically become fans. These ads need a "call to action" (I know, very much an overused marketing term, but absolutely applies here).

Currently, Coffin Media Works is running a campaign for Presidio Golf Course that has a great "call to action" and leveraging their free or cheap golf rounds to gain Fans on the Facebook Fan Page. The Status updates asks Fans to participate and the winner is rewarded with a free round of golf and to stay tuned for more contests. www.facebook.com/PresidioGolf

Noah's Bagels is also running a great "call to action" campaign. For every new Fan Page member, they are giving a FREE BAGEL away! This is a phenominal way to leverage a free give-away into fans.

The Noah's Bagel campaign is similar to the Starbuck's campaign from the summer of 2009 when Starbuck's gave away a free pastry with purchase of a coffee. This campaign caught fire, and most Starbuck's locations ran out of pastries because of the viral nature of Facebook.

Closing notes: Leverage your big events to gain Facebook Fans
