Social Media is everywhere. We all know the stats are out of this world. -Average user spends more than 55 minutes per day on Facebook -More than 400 million active users -50% of our active users log on to Facebook in any given day -More than 35 million users update their status each day -More than 1.5 million local businesses have active Pages on Facebook
And now some businesses are using their traditional marketing to get people to connect with their Facebook and Twitter pages. In the example seen above, Nissan has been running display advertising on Yahoo that direct people to both their Facebook Fan Page (17,000 Fans) and their Twitter Page (2,800 Followers).
This strategy is phenomenal. Normally, brands will run a campaign and that will be the end of it. People will click the ad, they will see the offer and will decide to purchase or not. With a campaign that directs people to Facebook/Twitter to become fans/followers, brands can continue to connect with their fans throughout the year. This type of brand marketing is far more valuable than traditional display advertising.
Moral of this story: Make your ad dollars work for you by transforming your display advertising campaigns into social media campaigns!
My last post was about the most visited websites. This post is about the most page views on a website. And yet again, Facebook is leading the pack, by a long shot! Almost twice as many page views per a month than any other social networking site!
Not too surprising, seeing as they have far more members than any other social networking site, hence the amount of page views coincide.
Need help planning a social media marketing plan? Increase use engagement! Build a strong brand by connecting with your customers! And most importantly contact Coffin Media Works to help you!
Facebook is now the 2nd most visited website in the US! Who did they pass you ask? Yahoo! For years and years, Yahoo has been on top for unique visitors. In the 90's, Yahoo dominated. Then Google came around and claimed the number 1 spot.
Now, Facebook has taken down the search giant Yahoo. This goes to show Facebook and social media are have been integrated into our everyday life. And not just in college students (where it all began), young professionals, or teenagers, but Facebook has been adopted by sports teams, major brands, companies and journalists.
If you want to be where the eyes are, Facebook is a remarkable place to interact with your customers and fans!
Once again, Noah's Bagels is getting into the social media game by promoting their buy one bagel, get one free National Bagel Day campaign. I feel they both hit and missed the target with this campaign. Use this link to see Noah's Bagels Fan Page.
1. They hit the bulls-eye by rewarding all their fans by giving them a buy one get one free bagel. I would call this great incentive to be a fan of Noah's. One fan even commented saying "I love, love, love the offers! Keep 'em coming!"
2. They missed the bulls-eye by only posting a link to a coupon print out. This leave little room for any viral effect of the campaign. I can only imagine, Noah's would like to leverage give-aways like this into more Fan Page fans. By setting up a new tab on the fan page, and having fan page members "claim" the coupon would have been the way to go with this campaign. Because after you claim the coupon, you will be asked to publish this action to your news feed and distribute the campaign virally!
In conclusion, I commend Noah's for jumping into the social media world. But I would also like to show them the ways of a successful social media marketing campaign.
If you had 3 million bucks lying around, you too could produce a funny commercial about a product I don't want or need. Either way they are good for a laugh! ENJOY!
NFL Fans - If you were watching in HD (Everyone should be watching in HD) this was a visually awesome commercial.
Coke: Sleep Walking
Another solid commercial. Kinda funny, all around good commercial.
Budweiser Select
Uggghhh, why did they even pay for this? What a waste of resources. Wake me up when the game is back on!?!?
US Census
What a waste, lame commercial.
Doritos Samurai
Doritos Nailed it! Great commercial, funny!
Intel
This one makes me think of Johnny 5. I thought it was just OK, how does a robot have feelings anyway?
E*Trade
Gotta love the E*Trade Babies and howling at the moon!!! Milkaholic!!! haha
Bridgestone Tires
Eh, I get it. He said "life" but the driver heard "wife" and gave her up instead of his tires. I get it, but it's not all that funny.
Taco Bell: Charles
I love Sir Charles and had to love his commercial. It was like he actually wrote the commercial and all he had to do is rhyme with Box. Good one Charles, you sure do ROX!
KIA
I didn't like this one. What do those crazy mascots have to do with selling a car with good MPG?
Go Daddy
The saying goes "Sex Sells" and Go Daddy has always exploited it. They didn't stop in 2010.
Dennys
I like! Favorite part: The secret service chickens in the oval office wearing ties, sunglasses and ear pieces. Well played!
Vizio
While I watch TV on one of my two Vizio televisions, I didn't get this commercial. Too much going on, too little facts. Just call it a TV/Computer or a TeleMuter ComVision as I would name it.
Volkswagen
Favorite part: Kid punching old man in the nuts and Stevie Wonder (Blind) punching Tracy Morgan. Funny and unforgettable.
KGB
Decient commercial, but I have a problem with their service. I have the net on my phone, why would I pay .99 every time I wanted to search something? Grown men in diapers... always worth a laugh.
Emerald Nuts
Love the tag line "Awesome + Awesome = Awesomer." Commercial got one chuckle. Not a full on laugh.
HomeAway.com
Show me someone who doesn't like Chevy Chase, I'll show you someone I don't like. Good commercial, but I didn't take the time to go online to watch more.
Bud Light: Asteroid
Liked it, but I saw the ending coming right from the start. Who didn't think it was going to be a miscalculation and the earth would be safe anyways?
Jack in the Box
Jack usually has good commercials. And that is what this is, just a regular old GOOD commercial. You gotta pull out all the stops for the Super Bowl. Next year... Step up your game Jack!
Budweiser Bridge
Well done Budweiser! I enjoyed this one especially the theme music from a mid 80's comedy with Chevy Chase, Bill Murray or Dan Akroyd!
Dr Pepper
Haha, LITTLE KISS! As in midgets dressed like kiss the band! LOVE IT!
Google
I liked this one a lot. Not your typical Super Bowl commercial but did a good job without being like all the other commercials.
Denny's
Not great, but they served their purpose, get the message out to everyone in America. Free Grand Slam on your B-Day!
TruTV
Nice work of the fictional Punxsutawne Polamalu. Probably wont watch whatever it is they were advertising but, none the less, funny little creature!
Teleflora
Haha, nice work of making fun of the bitchy, stuck up, "I'm the best" lady!
Dodge Charger
Just like the last car commercial, not enough about the actual car. This ranks higher than the KIA commercial though.
Dove for Men
Good work. Funny song. Men and women can relate to this commercial. My wife looked to her friend and said, "I make Tyler check on the noises at night just like the commercial."
Hyundai Brett Favre
Nice work! Brett deserves to be made fun of and this was funny. Again not about the car, but still a good commercial.
Dockers
I like the song. I found myself singing the song later that night! I think it could be catchier than 5 dollar foot longs if it get enough repetition.
Cars.com
Good work. It was over the top like Super Bowl commercials need to be. But not enough so to break into my top 5.
Shape Ups: Skechers
Waste of resources. Here is my product, you should buy it. That was all I heard. And do you really expect me to believe Joe Montana wears these things??!! Luckily it was 15 seconds and about half as expensive.
Bridgestone: Whale
Over the top! Play on the Hangover (I guess). Funny part: water out the blow hole and the guy says "It's in my mouth." Ah the small things.
Go Daddy
Sex Sells...
Monster.com
HAHAHA a beaver playing the fiddle. Way to be over the top and get my attention!
Doritos: Funeral
HAHA! Lets talk about over the top! Def in my top 5!
Coke: Simpsons
Love the Simpsons. But kinda a generic commercial. The ad wizards could have brewed up something more creative.
Doritos: Kid
Probably my favorite!! Perceptive little kid. Gets right in the guys face!!
Doritos: Dog Collar
Smart dog. Dumb commercial. It's OK, Doritos Nailed their other commercials. That is why they buy so many, they'll hit the bullseye with at least one!
Boost Mobile Shuffle
Like it! McMahon coming in on a scooter was awesome. But my buddy looked to me and asked where Samurai Mike was (Mike Singletary)?
Hyundia
Finally a car commercial featuring a CAR! Too bad they compare it to a work of art? Come on man?
Snickers
Great! Love it. "You're playing like Betty White out there." To which he replies "That's not what your girlfriend says." Love it! Top 5
Bud Light: House
Now the ad wizards are getting somewhere. A creative, funny commercial!
Audi
Huh? That commercial was about a car? I don't get it sometimes. Funny commercial, I just didn't know it was about a car until there were about 5 seconds left.
*I omitted all CBS Promo commercials and movie promo commercials. What we are left with is the meat and potatoes of the Super Bowl Commercials!
Banned from the superbowl!!! Pretty funny! Gotta love how these agencies love to get commercials banned from the superbowl and wear it as a badge of honor!!!
On January 16th I brought you an article about the Einstein Bagels FREE bagel campaign (It can be read here). And now, about a month later it is found to be a VERY successful campaign. Einstein Bagels went from just over 4,000 fans to well over 300,000 fans. I would absolutely call this a success.
These types of campaigns are easy to get started, cost effective and yield high results. Contact Coffin Media Works to get started on your campaign today!
In my previous few post I have given you ideas of how to leverage your events/give-aways into more fans. Hopefully you have had a chance to implement one of these campaigns to get new fans.
Now that you have a larger fan base, how will you engage them? You want to keep your fans interested and waiting for your next post. Here are some ways to do this:
Engaging Videos: Post videos to your profile that relates to your Fan Page. Personally, I am a fan of the San Diego Chargers and every week after the game on Sundays, the Chargers update their fans with a video highlight of the last weeks game. Below is an example:
Questions/Polls: In the case of the San Diego Chargers, they often ask which Charger had the best game or who the Chargers MVP is. This type of content yields high results. Lots of interactions with fans and is very engaging.
Live Updates : Live updates is a great way to keep in touch with your Fan base on a daily basis. Ski Resorts do a good job of utilizing this feature. When a storm hits a mountain, they update their status and their fans are the first to know! Fans are very appreciative of this type of update on their Facebook News Feed.
Events: Posting an event to you Fan Page gets your fans involved. As a business/event you will also have a better idea of how many people you expect to attend your event. Fans can post picture from last years event, comment on the wall or even invite friends!
3rd Party News Articles: Online news articles that are relevant to your Fan Page are a great way to inform and and engage your fans. The San Diego Union Tribune posts some of their most popular and controversial articles to their Facebook Fan Page daily!
These updates need to be done daily to ensure your fans are satisfied and consume and interact with your Fan Page. The more your fans interact, the more your fans will view your brand in a positive way.
In my next article I will let you know how often you should update your profile. If you need help with Social Media Management, contact Coffin Media Works.
In the past few weeks I have been bringing you different types of contests, coupons and give-aways that you can run on Facebook. The common goal of all these campaigns is to leverage these events into more fans for the fan page. But, my first few examples have all been from very large brands like IHOP or Dunkin Donuts. So today, I am bringing you an example of a lesser known brand.
The Resort at Glade Springs is giving away a ski weekend for one lucky winner and 11 of their closest friends! 3 days and 2 nights in a 6 bedroom, 6 1/2 bath lodge! A steal of a deal!!! Quite worth it to give this away and leverage this into new fans!
